Newcastle, England:     Michael Owen will have to wait for eight weeks before doctors can operate on his injured right knee."I spoke to our club doctor Roddy McDonald after the first stage of the procedure had been done, and he explained to me what the second stage would involve and that it could take place in eight weeks' time," Newcastle coach Glenn Roeder told the team's Web site.The 26-year-old striker and McDonald traveled to the United States to have Owen's ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) examined because of his injury during the opening minutes of England's World Cup match against Sweden.While examining the knee, world-renowned knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman discovered that there was slight cartilage damage that had to be repaired before he could work on Owen's ACL.Newcastle physiotherapist Derek Wright will travel to Colorado to assist with Owen's rehab. Owen is expected to return to England next week.
